– Children between the ages of 5 and 17 years old.
– Diagnosed with a life-threatening or terminal illness.
– Parents or legal guardians
– Medical professionals
– Family members
(All information we receive concerning the child is kept confidential.)
If the child meets our criteria, we will contact the family and begin the application process.
The Request form must be completed and signed by a parent/legal guardian of the child and sent to Warrior Kids.
Warrior Kids contacts the child’s medical specialist and asks to receive in writing the diagnosis and whether the child is medically eligible to receive a wish and if the child is able to participate in a wish.
Before your child has his/her heart set on a particular wish, please understand that all wishes must go through an approval process, which can take some time. All wishes must be reasonable, attainable and medically appropriate for your child’s age and medical condition. Once the wish and all necessary steps have been followed and the wish is approved, Warrior Kids sets out to create a life-changing experience for the child. The time can vary before the wish takes place, depending on what it is and the health of the child.
Every wish we grant is chosen entirely by the child. It could be a trip, a meeting with a well-known person or even a special item. Whatever the wish, we will do what we can to make it happen. It is our aim to bring a touch of happiness, however brief, into the lives of these children.
Some wishes have restrictions based on various factors, including the child’s medical condition in relation to the wish request. Warrior Kids takes into consideration all factors as they relate to the wish and the wish child, and then plans the wish accordingly.
In most cases wishes are fulfilled within a few months. However, it is not easy to specify how long it takes from wish referral to wish fulfilment as it often depends upon the wish requested.
Please Note:
– Wishes will not be granted for trips abroad or wishes beyond our financial resources.
– Sometimes there is a delay between agreeing to grant a wish, and the wish actually happening. This is often because we are waiting for the child’s condition to stabilize enough for the child to take part in the wish. Sometimes it is due to the availability of a personality that the child has wished to meet. If we have promised to grant a wish, this promise does not “expire” on the 17th birthday.
